According to the Xinhua News Agency, 100 watts incandescent lamp was beginning to be eliminated from this January 1st in California, USA. Replace the brightest lamps with energy-saving lamps, which brightest lamps have been used for several centuries in resident houses.

One expert estimated that energy-saving effect will be very considerable if other U.S. states follow the example of California.

Lighting manufacturers will not produce the 100-watt incandescent lamps any more from now on. The store will not purchase it after the stock sold out, only sell the 72 watts incandescent, halogen incandescent, fluorescent and light-emitting diode (LED) lamps.

This initiative is designed to the implementation of the 2007 "Energy independence and Security Act. California implements the national standards under the bill ahead of for one year.

The bill specified that 100-watt traditional incandescent will begin to eliminated from 2012 in USA, which will be replaced with energy-saving 25-30% lamps. The 75 watts, 60 watts and 40-watt traditional incandescent will be phased out in 2014 gradually. Some of special incandescent lamps are not in the eliminated list such as the yellow light bulbs for safety tips and the lamps for the aquarium.

The experts said that the annual savings of electricity fee could up to $ 10 billion after eliminating the incandescent lamps across the United States. The electricity saving rate is equal to the generating capacity of 30 large power plants, which can reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly.

Energy-saving lamps are much more expensive than the traditional incandescent lamps. The unit price of traditional incandescent lamp is 25 cents in California, while LED lamp is $ 20.
